Dr. Marilyn M. Irving has been invited to serve on the Smithsonian Science Education Center (SSEC) Ad Hoc Advisory Group on Higher Education (Ad Hoc AGHE).

M. Irving

The SSEC is the only unit at the Smithsonian Institution that is solely dedicated to formal K-12 science education reform. The mission of the SSEC is to transform the teaching and learning of science for all students in the United States and throughout the world. We do this through building awareness for science education reform; developing curriculum that integrates science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) with the history, art, and culture of the Smithsonian; providing professional development to K-12 teachers; and, promoting Leadership and Assistance for STEM Education Reform (LASER) to district leaders, State Education Agencies (SEAs), and Ministries of Education. The Ad Hoc AGHE would advise the SSEC on various ways the SSEC could collaborate with schools of higher education to advance its mission.
