Accreditation
The School of Education is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The accreditation was granted in Fall 2017 with no areas for improvement (AFIs) and will be active for seven years. Additionally, the PhD program in Counseling Psychology is fully accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). Specific programs with other national recognition include:
- Elementary Education (The Association of Childhood Education International)
- Educational Administration (The Educational Leadership Constituent Council (ELCC)
- Howard University Early Learning Program (https://www.naeyc.org/)
The School of Education also has 13 subject area disciplines that are State approved by the Office of the State Superintendent (OSSE) to prepare candidates for certification in the District of Columbia.
Annual Reporting Measures for CAEP Standards
HUSOE is a CAEP-accredited provider that prepares dynamic teachers, educational leaders and human service professionals committed to improve teaching, learning and research in urban and other diverse settings. Significant features of our academic programs include opportunity to travel abroad for global education experiences, engagement with our Urban Superintendents Academy and the Ph.D program in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies.
