Affiliated Programs
HUSOE has three research centers:
- an Early Learning Program that serves ages 3-5
- an Upward Bound Program that serves high school students, and
- a scholarly refereed journal that chronicles significant developments in Black education.
The HUSOE Early Learning Program is an NAEYC accredited early childhood program. It is comprised of the Adele B. McQueen Preschool, the Howard University Kindergarten, and the Howard University Summer Day Camp.
HUSOE TRIO Upward Bound Programs serve students enrolled in four District of Columbia public high schools and four Prince George's County public high schools. Features of the program include individualized tutoring and instruction, project based learning, ACT and SAT preparation, college tours, and cultural enrichment.
The Journal of Negro Education was founded in 1932. It has a readership of subscribers in all 50 U.S. states as well as in Australia , Bermuda , Canada , England , France , Germany , India , Jamaica , Japan , New Zealand , Poland , Scotland , South Africa , Trinidad and Tobago , and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The DC Area Writing Project, Center for Drug Abuse and Research, Urban Superintendents Academy and STEM Enrichment and Verizon Learning Summer Camps are also programs affiliated with HUSOE.
