What are the hours of operation?
The core academic day is from 9:00 am - 12:00 noon for three- and four-year-olds, and 9:00 am - 3:00 pm for kindergarteners.
Do you have extended care?
Children can arrive as early as 7:30 am and be picked up no later than 5:45 pm at no additional charge. However, no child should be left at the school for more than 9.5 hours.
When does the academic year begin and end?
The academic year begins in September and ends in June. However, HUELP observes all holidays and school closings identified on the Howard University Academic Calendar.
Who is eligible to enroll?
HUELP admits and enrolls children between the ages of 2.9 and 6 years without regard to race, color, creed, gender, gender identity, religious preference or national origin. Reasonable accommodations are made for children with disabilities when such accommodations can be made without undue hardship to the program.
Is there a waiting list?
HUELP is open to the community with priority given to HU employees and HU full-time students on a "first-come, first-served" basis until all slots are filled. In the event that a class or all classes are full, applications will be kept on file for six months. Priority will be given to siblings of children enrolled in the program.
How much is tuition?
Tuition amounts are based on children's ages and the following tuition options: HU Full-Time Student, HU Employee, Extended Community.
