Our teacher education programs are unique, having a targeted focus on urban education and culturally responsive practices. We have received national recognition through the Council of Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP).
The Curriculum and Instruction faculty are innovative and have created outstanding projects. The 4-year elementary degree program offers some unique STEM and international components that are designed to prepare “World-Class Teachers for an Interdependent World”. We are also proud of our Metropolitan Teacher Residency Program, which is designed to attract career changers and paraprofessionals to the teaching profession.
The graduates of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction have moved on to esteemed careers in teaching in the District of Columbia, Prince George’s County, and in Public School Systems throughout the nation.
